Binky: Frozen in Time

Thalamus Digital Publishing put Binky: Frozen in Time on sale on itch.io on 24 September. It is a single-screen platformer in 20 caverns: Binky, an ice dragon who has lost his ice breath, freezes every platform he walks on, and once all of them are frozen an exit portal opens and he has to reach it before the timer runs out. Fire Imps thaw platforms behind him. Time Extension reports that the game was designed and coded by Chris Shrigley and Terry Lloyd, with a cover by Simon Phipps and SID music by Tomas Danko; the itch.io page credits the copyright to Snowball Effect Games.

It comes as a .D64 disk image for emulators, the C64 Ultimate and the C64 Mini, though the publisher recommends real hardware or VICE. The price is US$8.99 or more. A physical edition is listed as coming through the Thalamus shop, and Time Extension says the developers hope to port the game to the Amiga, Atari ST and ZX Spectrum.

Lemmings Reloaded

Lunatic Lab released Lemmings Reloaded on 15 August, free, as what it calls an "unofficial non-commercial fan project" based on Lemmings, DMA Design's game for Psygnosis. It has 123 levels, three more than the Amiga original, mixing the classic stages with ports from other versions and new levels, plus 30 SID tunes that become available in a jukebox as you progress and a bronze, silver and gold rating for each level, saved to the cartridge. That is the catch: it is cartridge-only, in EasyFlash and GMod2 formats, PAL only, and the authors strongly recommend a mouse, either a 1351 or a USB mouse through an adapter. It runs on a real C64 with one of those cartridges, on the C64 Ultimate and in VICE. On CSDb it is recorded as the winner of the mixed competition at the Breakout 2026 event, with 1,084 downloads from that site alone by 26 October.

Shadows of Belial

RetroWorks' Shadows of Belial, for the ZX Spectrum 128K, returns to Sir Fred, the hero of the 1986 game by Made in Spain, forty years on: the knight, now old, comes out of hiding after the murder of his father and brothers to find out who is behind it. There are five stages, from a mining village held by Barbary pirates to an infernal realm, with arrows that fire in five directions and stick in walls as steps. Indie Retro News reported the release on 1 October; the itch.io page went up on 2 October, and versions 1.0.3 and 1.0.4 followed on 2 and 9 October. The game is free from RetroWorks' own site, now in nine languages with files dated 24 October and a disk version for the +3, and pay-what-you-like on itch.io. JPison came up with, programmed and designed it, with graphics by Fransouls, cover art by Pagantipaco and music by Tacha and Mikomedes.

Nightshift Skedaddle ZX

Nightshift Skedaddle ZX is a 48K maze game from mavtherave, a sequel to 2025's Scrapyard Skedaddle ZX, built with Jonathan Cauldwell's Multi-Platform Arcade Game Designer. Willow the cat collects 12 biscuits on each of 16 ladder-and-platform levels, 90 seconds apiece, while rats patrol her factory. The developer's post about it is dated 1 August, and Time Extension covered it on 5 August. It is a free .tap file. The page asks players who enjoy it to give to a charity of their choice or to the MND Association, and carries a warning that its flashing, high-contrast sprites make it unsuitable for anyone with a photosensitivity condition.

Dawn of the Terrorbots

Published on itch.io on 23 October by 7 Towers Soft Games, Dawn of the Terrorbots is a double pack for the Spectrum 128K and the Spectrum Next. The player clears ten robot-held stations on one failing power grid: lights, doors, weapons and turrets draw on the same supply, and every shot costs power. The Next edition runs at 28 MHz with Layer 2 backdrops lit by the grid, hardware sprites and three AY sound chips. The list price is US$3.99; on 26 October it was US$1.59 in a Halloween sale.

KABOOMANIA

Fancy Factory of Arnstadt, Germany, released KABOOMANIA on 13 August on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Switch and iOS, and on the Amiga 500, 1200 and CD32. It is a maze bomber with 1,000 levels in five worlds and a four-player local battle mode, drawn at 320 by 256 in 128 colours on AGA machines and 32 on the A500, with music by Chris Huelsbeck; Fabian Del Priore converted the score to ProTracker modules for the Amiga. The disk version needs a stock A1200, or an A500 with 1 MB of memory, while the WHDLoad version wants Kickstart 3.2 and 4 MB of Fast RAM on an A1200. The launch price was EUR 9.90 or US$9.90; the Amiga version is US$9.99 or more on itch.io. A boxed Amiga edition, promised at launch, is now listed by amigashop.org at EUR 29.00, with a CD32 disc that also carries the disk images, and floppies as extras.
